چکیده
With the exception of well known Mesolithic sites in Danube Gorges (or Iron Gates), wider areas Central Balkans and southern fringes Great Pannonian Plain still represent a terra incognita when it comes to presence communities. The absence region was associated with environmental changes Early Holocene, presumed low human population densities, limited possibilities detection, or lack adequate research. However, valuable insights into obscure regional can be gained not only by new archaeological excavations, but also revisiting reanalysing existing collections. Particularly informative this respect are Neolithic sites, indicative extensive spread farming communities from c. 6200 cal BC. Within ERC Project BIRTH, large sample animal remains these dated, falling (expected) range between 6200?5300 one several bone samples Magare?i mlin, Gospo?inci-Nove zemlje Grabovac-?uri?a vinogradi were dated 8th millennium BC, providing first radiocarbon evidence Holocene sequences territory Serbia other than Gorges. In paper, we present dates, discuss contextual provenance bones, explore implications results for better understanding problem “missing” “invisible” region.
